Finally the most waited day for AMD fans come , today is the release of the high end AMD's dual GPU graphic card Radeon HD 6990 ,codename Antilles.
Featuring two Cayman GPUs interconnected on one PCB and share a total of 3072 stream processors , the Radeon HD 6990 specification are set to high value as expected , the two GPU run at a clock speed 830MHz and every GPU is connected with 2 GB of GDDR5 with 256-bit bus , so the some of the two are 512-bit memory interface and total of 4GB of GDDR5 , and this last one is clocked at 5000MHz ,
AMD also include a physical BIOS switch to overclock both GPU up to 880Mhz .
This new AMD monster has a 375W TDP and needs two 8-pin PCI-E power connectors , AMD suggests a 750W+ or a 1000W+ PSU in case you want to run two of these for some CrossfireX mode , the Radeon HD 6990 include one DVI and four mini DisplayPort outputs
A good cooling system is badly needed to cool down two GPUs on the same room, so AMD will use a dual heatsink cooler which is cooled by a big blower fan , the price tag is set at US $699.
