SSD games for the next Xbox instead of disc drive ?
Is this the end of a long disc drive story with gaming consoles, since the first appearance on the Playstation in 1995, disc drivers has been transferring lot of data into your console with no problems, Microsoft today see things from another perspective, they recently claim that the next generation Xbox 720 gaming console will get rid of the disc driver and will use an interchangeable SSD card storage.
This news is leaked by MCV; a gaming world magazine via an unannounced, they say: 'Although
the console will not include a disc drive, it will offer compatibility
with some sort of interchangeable solid-state card storage, although it
is not known whether this will be proprietary or a more standard format
such as SD,' MCV's Ben Parfitt, using this new technology, gamers will be able to download games directly from the Xbox live store and store them on a memory card, using a fast SSD instead of a slower Blu-ray or DVD discs make sense when you consider the next generation AMD's processor which will be used on the new Xbox, the good news is that for sure the final price of the Xbox 720 would be interesting without a disc drive, but the bad news is, can you imagine the price of an SSD Xbox 720 game?
More details to come soon, the E3 is coming in Los Angeles in May, lets wait and see.
